AI-Generated Music: From Fight Songs to Joyful Scores
I’ve been experimenting with different ways AI can help people like me—who don’t read music or play an instrument—create original audio. Turns out, with just a few prompts and the right tools, you can bring entire compositions to life. Here’s how I explored three completely different styles of music using AI:
MusicLM: Text-to-Music for Epic Vibes
First up, I tested MusicLM, Google’s experimental AI that turns text into audio. I kept it simple:
Prompt: "fast-paced fight song for an anime hero to save the day"
Within seconds, it gave me a full cinematic track—something you'd expect to hear as a main character powers up in a final battle. The fact that a single sentence could generate a fully orchestrated musical idea still blows my mind.
JoyfulGPT: Composing an Original Score from Scratch
For this next project, I wanted to go deeper—not just generate music, but learn how it works. I asked ChatGPT to walk me through musical structure and notation, and then collaborate with me to write an original piece.
Prompt: "Compose an original piece that conveys the emotion of joyful."
Through iteration, we added harmony, rhythm, tempo (bpm), and dynamics to shape it into a complete piece. Once we had a finished score, I used OnlineSequencer.net to input the melody and harmony, and exported it as an MP3.
To take it a step further, I used wzrd.ai, an AI video tool, to turn the music into a full audio-visual experience. With a few curated visuals and a thematic style, the result became JoyfulGPT—my first truly original AI-generated music video.
8-Bit Podcast Opener: Retro Vibes with AI Composition
Still in the same ChatGPT thread, I asked for something totally different:
Prompt: "Can you craft me an original score for a podcast opening, in 8-bit Square?"
This time, ChatGPT baked in the nuance—octaves, bpm, and rhythm—without me needing to ask. It knew the format, and gave me a short, poppy, retro tune reminiscent of classic game intros or quirky podcast jingles. I used the same toolchain to render and output the music.
Why This Matters
These projects weren’t just creative exercises—they were proof that AI can:
Help you learn new creative languages (like music theory)
Turn ideas into usable outputs—even if you’re not a trained musician
Open up new ways to express personality or brand voice through sound
Whether you're building a game, launching a podcast, or just want a theme song for fun, AI puts musical creativity within reach.
I'm continuing to explore how these tools can support content creation, brand storytelling, and creative production in marketing. But sometimes, it's also just fun to hear what your imagination sounds like.
